That is baffling!
Now the best portrayal of expression of Kate's mental state is baffling.
"I don't know what you're talking about at all." Kate doesn't expect Luke to misunderstand even such things. Is she such a violent and ruthless woman to Luke?
"I don't think the street racer people can take action without your orders and warn me not to approach you."
Luke's eyes makes Kate feel dazzling and makes her heart feel a little bit cold.
"Oh? You mean that I sent that man to attack you?" Kate put her head aside, but her tone is no longer as strong as before, and it sounds a bit like she did a bad thing.
"I can't think of any other explanation. Or you can call that man out, don't you take him away?" Luke looks around; there is no one but the two of them.
Kate shakes her head and says quietly, "Luke, then why I take him away instead of let him attack you, as you said."
Luke frowns, "I don't know then, shouldn't you explain it?"
Luke is not a completely unreasonable person. But he is a man after all, and reason controls his behavior.
Kate also wants to explain, but how to say this. How should she let Luke know that members of the street racer attacked him because of jealousy of her fancy for him?
Kate moves her lips. She really cannot tell, and doesn't want Luke to attack Duke after knowing the truth. After all, Duke does such stupid thing because of the admiration of her.
"What? Can't tell anything? Do you want me to help with say it out?" Luke is already a little upset.
In fact, Luke also has feelings for Kate, but Kate's hesitation words makes him feel that Kate is running away from him. He is in a bad mood because of the attacker, which dispels all his good feelings about Kate.
Kate is also angry, but when she looks at Luke's face, her anger no longer exists anymore, she lowers her head and says, "Oh? What do you think?"
Luke wants to say that he knows the reason why Kate does such things because she wants to escape from his chasing, but he cannot say anything.
Luke seems to be gentle, but it also a kind of masculinity, and he would feel embarrassed even if he says that he is pursuing Kate.
So Luke freezes as well, and their expressions are surprisingly identical for both two of them.
Kate seats on the motorcycle, puts on her helmet and sniffs. "Hope you can trust me that I wasn't meant to hurt you."
Luke looks at Kate's back, which is still beautiful. He licks his lips, and replies unconsciously, "I trust you."
Kate feels relieved and turns the handle to start the motorcycle, and the roaring motor sounds in the alley.
"Nothing else?" Luke asks.
Kate just feels she becomes sultry inside of the helmet all of a sudden and she wants to tell him her thoughts in a moment and tells Luke that she is in love with him.
But Kate is still Kate, and she cannot tell no matter how hard she tries.
So the answer she leaves to Luke is just the roar of the engine.
Luke stands still, and the moonlight makes his figure even lonelier than before.
At this moment his mood is very complicated, from the beginning, guilt, doubt, impatience, anger, softness to expectation, and then to blankness.
He thinks he doesn't understand Kate at all, and he doesn't know what the girl is thinking.
Maybe Kate is really not the one who suitable for him.
Luke shakes his head helplessly and leaves aimlessly under the moonlight.
...
After this, Luke and Kate's previous relationship become extremely subtle. Of course, this is not reflects in the meeting between them, because they don't see each other for a long time.
After that apology, it seems the gap between them becomes deeper.
After several days, Luke starts to contact Leo again. And he stays with Leo and Claire but without mentioning Kate at all. Even when Claire mentions her, he just talks perfunctory.
Kate never appears, and there is no other news about her. Occasionally, she answers the phone call from Claire, but she rejects Claire's invitation because she is worried that Claire lets her to meeting with Luke. They just talk about the latest situation. The name of Luke becomes a sensitive word.
Although Kate always thinks Leo is a scum, she also shows she is a little envy when she heard Claire telling her recent happy days. This worries Claire, because Kate is not behaving like this before.
The only explanation is that although Kate has some conflicts with Luke, she still wants to be with him.
Claire's life is happy now, but she doesn't want to see her good sister depressed all day because of Luke.
Maybe she is boring now, but more importantly she is responsible. Claire is ready to handle the problem and let the matter between Luke and Kate completely be resolved.
Whether they can be together depends on the destiny, but even if they aren't with each other, they don't have to be so ambiguous. Since this makes the people around them feel uncomfortable.
Claire doesn't come up to Kate firstly, because she knows Kate so well that she needs to know what Luke really thinks about it.
So when Luke comes to Howard Group, he is been led to the preparation room by Claire as soon as he enters the door. Claire says that there are some important things to do.
Claire makes coffee for Luke after he enters the preparation room, and they seat on the sofa.
Luke sips his coffee with a smile, and jokes, "It's Mrs. President's coffee, and I must be so blessed to drink."
Claire doesn't show a smile at all, but says to Luke solemnly, "I want to ask you something, since you drank my coffee, you have to tell me the truth."
Luke shrugs his shoulder, because he has no secrets anyway.
Claire still says seriously, "You swear!"
"If I have any concealment, just let me strike by the thunder to death." Luke swears impatiently again.
Claire nods with satisfaction, and then asks directly, "What happened to you and Kate recently?"
She thinks Luke would be very dissatisfied with this question. But he just smiles slightly, then puts down the coffee and whispers, "I actually want to talk to you about this, otherwise why I swear so easily?"
