He put down his coffee cup and hurried out. I followed him. "What happened?"

Daniell Cook looked at me and seemed hesitant. After a while he said, "Nothing. Do your job."

But I had a bad feeling in my heart.

My work today was not particularly important. I went downstairs with him.

Daniell Cook didn't notice that I was following him at all. When he was ready to drive, I rushed over and sat in the co-driver.

He was a little angry when he saw me. "You go back to work."

"Tell me what happened."

I asked him.

At first Daniell Cook was reluctant to say. But it was so urgent that he had to start the car.

On the way, he told me that the worker who had changed the glue had been found dead at the construction site.

He died last night but his body was found today!

I didn't think it was an accident.

When Daniell Cook and I arrived at the scene, the police had arrived. The worker's body was still there.

Only then did I know that this man was Henry.

I watched him lying on the ground and remembered what he had said in the police station a while ago about how difficult his life was.

He had three children. How would his family survive after his death?

After collecting evidence on the spot, the police took the body to the forensic doctor.

After a series of examinations, it was basically confirmed that Henry died suddenly.

Because no one in his family was here, Daniell Cook and I helped deliver the body to the funeral home the same day. We bought coffins and shrouds and asked the mortician to help make up the body.

We had a busy day.

By the time I got home, it was 11 p.m.

When I opened the door, I found the light in the room was on. Sean Jessop was sitting on the sofa with a mobile desk and a laptop in front of him.

His fingers rapped on the keyboard.

"How did you get in?"

From mortuary to funeral parlor, what I saw today was all about the dead.

Seeing him at home made me feel very warm.

I felt comforted.

"When I left this morning, I took the spare key." Sean Jessop didn't take his eyes off the screen when he spoke.

The spare key?

I didn't even know where the spare key was!

"How can you move my things?"

I looked around but nothing changed at home.

Then Sean Jessop stopped working and came up to me. He smelled, frowned slightly and asked, "Where have you been? What's this smell?"

I changed my shoes, stood in front of the landing window and looked out at the lights and told him about today.

After that, I frowned and said to myself, "How sad will his wife and three children be to know that he is dead? How do they survive after his death?"

Although it didn't happen to me.

The scene of his crying in the police station was still in my mind.

I suddenly felt warm behind me.

Sean Jessop held me from behind. His arm wrapped around my waist. He gave me a gentle kiss on the top of my head and said, "We are not saints. We can't help everyone. But we can help him. I will help this family for you."

I looked vaguely at the reflection on the landing window.

Maybe what happened today made me feel a little sad. I didn't hate Sean Jessop at all today.

I shook my head. "No, I have money now. I can help them myself."

That night, Sean Jessop wanted to sleep with me in the master bedroom. I did not refuse him.

We just slept with each other. Nothing happened.

On the third day after that day, as soon as I got to the entrance of the company, I saw a group of people in front of the office building. I heard the baby crying.

I squeezed in and saw a woman and three children. The eldest daughter knelt on the ground and two infants still in swaddling were laid on the ground crying loudly.

There was a white banner behind them. There were several black words on it. "Universe Design Co. Ltd., return my husband's life!"

I knew who these people were!

"Listen to me, everybody! Universe Design Co. LTD is a bad company. In order to complete the project, my husband worked day and night. At last he was exhausted and died suddenly at the site! His body was not found until the next day!"

"He is the pillar of our family. I need to raise three children by myself. I can't go out to work. He's dead. What can I do?"

The worker Henry's wife was crying and screaming.

People around her looked at her sympathetically.

Someone took out her wallet and gave her money.

I knew our company had never tortured workers at all. But I couldn't say it here.

I quit the crowd and sneaked back upstairs.

As soon as I entered the office, I found that the atmosphere in the office was very depressing. Everyone was silent and many people were staring at the screen in a daze.

I went to Daniell Cook's office and found that Daniell Cook was not there.

Later, I learned that he had contacted the police to find a way to solve the problem.

About an hour later, Henry's wife and three children were taken upstairs by Daniell Cook and the police.

As soon as she went upstairs, she began to cry and shout again.

The girl at the front desk quickly brought tea and poured water. She bought milk powder and bottles and started feeding the twins.

The police followed.

They began to discuss compensation.

Henry's wife asked for 420000 dollars.

We couldn't accept the price but Henry's wife suddenly changed her mind and asked for 700000 dollars!

The police also thought Henry's wife was asking too much.

As I watched, Henry's wife was full of guilt when she talked about money.

I had a vague feeling that the price was not what she wanted but that someone had told her to ask for so much.

The police said that even in a lawsuit, compensation for such an incident would not exceed 70000 dollars. It was usually between 30000 dollars and 40000 dollars. You also had to pay the lawyer's fee.

Henry's wife looked at the police confusedly as if she had no idea at all.

Later, she said she would think again.

Daniell Cook paid for her and her three children to stay in a hotel.

Henry's wife was grateful.

We thought it would work out but the next day Henry's wife came to the company and sat on the sofa.

She found me right in the crowd and said, "I want 700000 dollars! My husband was cheated by a woman named June Carter in your company! Maybe she killed my husband!"

Her tone was strong and obviously prepared.
